@stella The brushes I used for other dogs were to heavy or just annoyed them to much. The brush that Sprokit used works well with them for the most part. They both have the long floofy tails. I'll try the undercoat rake that doesn't scrape or cut the coat for the tails. Bolt's coat is very thin and Deri's is curly. Two different challenges. Thanks for the brush info. Different breeds different grooming tools. 😘😘🥰🥰🥰
@yukon_smoothcollie I tried the normal dog brush that Sprokit uses but it doesn’t do anything on Stella. She has really long fur. Her individual strands are like 4 inches long. Sparky and Stella are my first border collies. I couldn’t figure out why when I was brushing them, the brush wasn’t removing any fur. Then I looked online, and people were saying to use the rake brush because of the double coat. I brush Stella gently, and she has a very thick coat. I don’t think the rake brush is scratching her. She doesn’t act like it hurts her. She only acts annoyed if I brush her for a long time because she doesn’t like to sit still.
I’ve never had a long haired dog but I know that finding the grooming method they’ll tolerate is a challenge. Then it has to be a method that actually works for their coats. 🫤❤️
FWIW IMHO rakes can damage outer guard fur & can also hurt the skin. Idk if Border Collies have guard fur too, but Yukon does. So, we have to focus on the under floof with a comb or a pin rush like Sprokit showed. I hope Stella lets you comb her more, either way. I prefer it on a comb rather than on my socks. 🧦🤭🤭🤭
